Why do customer service personnel at AT&T cell phone stores always give you their business card when you go?

Question by ucdchris: Why do customer service personnel at AT&T cell phone stores always give you their business card when you go?
The personnel at AT&T stores always give you their business card. Sometimes they forget and offer more than once. It’s obviously in their training but why? Do they get commission, is it for the appearance of good customer service and availability? I’ve gotten so many and haven’t used one, it seems a little ineffective and wasteful.

My brother works for AT&T.

These folks work on commission and have sales quotas they are required to meet. Handing you their business card is a good business practice and is a gesture to show you that they are willing to go the extra mile and they will personally handle any situation that you may have pertaining to your phone service.

Because they partly work on commission and want to get a repeat customer if they have done a good job. They also want you to have their name so that when you call back and say there is still a problem, they can ask “Who did you talk to?”

they do this simply for a future possible sale and commision. it would be the same reason if you went to a auto car lot and a sales mean approches you he will tell you his name and give you a card. this way you are obligated to him for any future possible sales.
